Sylvia Kirby asked me to post this design for her and ask the rest of you for suggestions on how to make it better.

It looks pretty good to me, but without being able to see all the products, I can’t tell if all the products are all locally sourced. I know we all probably do use locally sourced products, but for me I try to incorporate products that I’ve purchased from wholesale vendors too. Just to make sure that it appears to be more professionally made rather than just something anyone could purchase the items and make a design. Personally, I still used shred to enclose the products just around the outside because it’s a waste to put it completely under all the products. I know some may have stopped using shred, so I guess that’s a personal choice. If products were all purchased locally, that means that you paid retail for everything, so therefore you still have to at least double that so it may make your basket design more expensive than what you may be able to sell it for.

Good Morning,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I think you are correct when you say you can’t see what’s included so I will post the contents on another photo side by side so the contents can be seen clearly. I also always use shred but since this was just to get feedback I didn’t put it in. It was more about wanting to get an idea about placement of products because trying to use sleighs has been challenging. I also made a handmade bow that I didn’t include in the photo. Thanks once again for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

Hi Sylvia, you’re welcome on the feedback. I wish others would give you their feedback too, but I guess everyone’s busy designing and getting their own Christmas baskets done! I know I’m doing that too, but taking a few seconds on here to chime in is not that hard. My comment about not being able to see all your products was not to indicate that they must be all seen whenever you’re designing a basket, IMO, that’s almost impossible. But to make a point about the retail vs wholesale products. Sometimes I take a pic with products that are not visible well or at all in a stand alone pic to add to my website to give the customer more visibility of what they’re buying. Do you have a website?

OK – I am super swamped but saw Glenda’s plea for more feedback, so here I am. I think you have done a nice job on this and this is hyper-critical nitpicking feedback.
I don’t worry if some product is less visible, but that is a personal choice. I would absolutely tuck some shred in the front- right now to ME it looks gap-py and unfinished. I love the color choices and the way the blue beads and blue ornament work, but I would leave out the silver spray on the left. Is that a charger in the back? To my eye, less necessary to the overall package because the sleigh is such a wow container. I would also use at least 2 cocoas (small budget item that adds a feeling of abundance) and tuck the Jack Links further back. They have less wow appeal than some of the other items.

First of all it is beautiful. Is there a picture on the plate that can be displayed? Might add to the perceived value, otherwise putting product in front of plate is fine. My other thought is, do the products need to be all local or is it more important to stick to the theme? I agree with the thoughts on shred. i use shred to tuck in between items to stablize as a finishing touch.
I have some clients who want local products and I try to get those products wholesale from the suppliers. When I use cheese I include crackers or chips that go with cheese. I try to use a variety of sweet and savory and a drink, like you have done.

Good morning,
First of all, my sincere thanks to all you ladies who took the time to comment on my basket. You all had some very helpful suggestions which I will certainly use going forward. I am always doubting myself when it comes to what I have put together. I used to have a business partner so it was great to be able to bounce ideas off of each other. Now I just have my husband who always says my baskets are beautiful ( not sure if he really means it or just wants me to go away) 🙂 so I appreciate honest feedback.
Thank you all once again,
Sylvia Kirby
